XBox Video Capture

I'm playing around with the idea of capturing XBox gameplay footage for the LAN party next month. I don't have any experience with video/audio capture and I'm not sure exactly what to buy or look at.

My requirements aren't very extensive:

USB interface (rather than a PCI card)
Reasonable video/audio quality
As inexpensive as possible
Must work 100% of the time and not be a pain in the ass

As for video quality, I'm not exactly going to make redistributable DVD's with this thing. I just want to edit some videos to share online. I'm not very knowledgeable about screen resolutions.... something that can be watched without squinting on a computer is fine.

So, I came across this on Amazon.com:

ADS Tech Video Xpress USBAV-191-EF

Anyone out there have experience with this stuff? Think that the ADS gadget would do the trick? The customer reviews seem decent enough.

I also need to figure out what software I'll need to capture the code. I know Windows Movie Maker can capture video but I think it's might be more geared toward capturing off of a camcorder. Not sure.

Any input would be great. Otherwise I'll be researching this a bit.

I'll tell you what, I always record video with xbox live gameplay.

Unfortunately, this product you have found only records Analog type things. For example: Using a camcorder and transfering it to the computer, that's what this will work for. In order to actually record on your computer screen, you will need a capturing device such as WinTV. WinTV2000 is what I originally used to record my videos, but ever since I took it out of my computer, it stopped working.

Therefore, I will suggest this item. I have read some review for this item and it seems like the most reliable program I've seen for capturing movies on xbox. An xbox live user even submitted a summary of this item.

Unfortunately, it costs roughly 100 dollars, about 50 dollars more than this capturing device that you have posted. I know, I wanted to buy this capturing device myself about 10 minutes ago, but then when I found out it's an analog recorder, I chose not to.

Here's your problem. You don't have a television screen on your computer, do you? That's where WinTV comes into play. If you want to deal with the trouble of Hauppauge to upload drivers, updates, etc. then get WinTV. I am sick of WinTV as of today, so yeah.

I'm actually leaning towards getting this item. It may help me with video length and what not (because WinTV never seemed to fully record all of my videos, it would record half of it then stop)

Casey - this device worked just fine for video capture from xbox to the computer.
